The Foundation has been created by passionate Jaguar® people who donate their time, resources, and services with the goal of better serving the Jaguar® Heritage and preserving the marque for future generations. We aim to leave a legacy for our children’s children so that they will be able to appreciate and continue with the work that we started. The foundation is anticipating opening museums, where Jaguar cars, books, memorabilia, and related material will be housed and viewed by the public. We are requesting that JCNA members donate any classic Jaguar® related items they can to help form these new museums.

HISTORY

Jaguar® is the luxury vehicle brand of Jaguar Land Rover®, a British multinational car manufacturer with its headquarters in Whitley, Coventry, England, owned by the Indian company Tata Motors since 2008.

Jaguar’s® business was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing bodies for passenger cars. Under the ownership of S. S. Cars Limited the business extended to complete cars made in association with Standard Motor Co many bearing Jaguar®as a model name. The company’s name was changed from S. S. Cars to Jaguar® Cars in 1945. A merger with the British Motor Corporation followed in 1966, the resulting enlarged company now being renamed as British Motor Holdings (BMH), which in 1968 merged with Leyland Motor Corporation and became British Leyland, itself to be nationalised in 1975.

Jaguar® was de-merged from British Leyland and was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1984, becoming a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index until it was acquired by Ford in 1990. Jaguar® has, in recent years, manufactured cars for the British Prime Minister, the most recent delivery being an XJ in May 2010. The company also holds royal warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles.

Jaguar® cars today are designed in Jaguar Land Rover’s® engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at their Gaydon site in Warwickshire, and are assembled in their plants at Castle Bromwich and Solihull.

In September 2013 Jaguar Land Rover® announced plans to open a 100 million GBP (160 million USD) research and development centre in the University of Warwick, Coventry to create a new generation of vehicle technologies. The carmaker said around 1,000 academics and engineers would work there and that construction would start in 2014.

donations

Cecil Myers with Coventry Foundation President Gary Kincel.

GARY ILCYN

One of the first and most significant donations of Jaguar® Factory Tools to the foundation was made by Gary Ilcyn at Jagbits. Gary’s donation is the Foundation of the extensive assortment of Factory Tools owned by the foundation, and available for loan to those folks working on their cars.

Former Jaguar® Dealership

This donation was made by a dealer that is no longer in existence. When they were purchased by another, all of the old tools were donated to the foundation by the new owner. These along with others previously donated by others make up our considerable collection that is available on loan at no charge. We believe, that ours is the largest and most complete assortment of factory tools for models dating to the 1930s.

Dennis, South Carolina

A donor from South Carolina, who during his time as an enthusiast, acquired a significant collection of Jaguar® specific literature, factory brochures, owners manuals etc. decided to make a donation of his entire collection to the foundation, with the idea that it would be retained, and eventually displayed and shared in a permanent facility for all to enjoy.

Chuck Hadley

This Foundation donation was made by Chuck Hadley.

XK-150 Parts Donation

After doing a restoration of an XK-150, this donor decided to donate the remaining parts including an extra transmission to the foundation. With the permission of the donor, the parts will be liquidated for cash, and the cash will be added to our scholarship fund.

Jerry Turner

Upon his retirement from the landscape architecture business and relocation to Fla, Jerry Turner a lifelong Jaguar® enthusiast, and collector, decided to donate his Extensive collection of books, literature, artwork, and model cars to the foundation. For use and enjoyment by all. The artwork, and model car collection will ultimately become part of the permanent display at our upcoming museum.

jaguar® literature donation

Extensive high quality collection of Jaguar® literature that was donated by an individual who was downsizing but wanted his collection to stay in tact, and more importantly be made available for use by all Jaguar® enthusiasts.
